Chiara Lyons
Originally a Human Rights Lawyer, I spent my 20s in El Salvador, Colombia and Palestine, working for organisations including the United Nations Refugee Agency & Amnesty International. From a young age, I really wanted to help make the world a better place, especially for people living through challenging situations.
After becoming seriously unwell with post-viral M.E. / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, my life was totally turned upside down – I could no longer work (or even stand upright for more than a few minutes!) and experienced a whole host of neurological symptoms as well as profound fatigue.
Kundalini Yoga was totally transformative in my healing journey, helping me recover when nothing else did. What I loved about Kundalini was that it helped me regain agency, and enabled me to reduce and eventually eliminate symptoms for myself.
I now love to share the profoundly healing tools of Kundalini with others. I specialise in gentle, restorative classes for people recovering from health issues, especially M.E. / CFS and Long Covid.
I live between London and Tenerife, and enjoy teaching in nature – in particular on the beach at sunset / sunrise. I also run healing retreats – both in Tenerife and further afield.
My learning focus continues to be on the therapeutic aspects of yoga. I have studied Kundalini Yoga Therapy – including specialist modules on Yoga for Anxiety & Depression and Yoga for Trauma, as well as Yin Yoga, the Meridians of Chinese Medicine & Ayurveda. I practice Sat Nam Rasayan – the healing branch of Kundalini Yoga – and I am a fully qualified Jikiden Reiki practitioner. I also support people in learning practical therapeutic talking skills, as a Trainer for London-based mental health charity Talk for Health.
