(Friday 3.30pm Red Tent) Healing Trauma with Sacred Belly Dance and Mantra with Louisa Darling & Amrit Jiwan Kaur
Trauma can be caused by any distressing or disturbing experience that we were unable to process completely. It can lead to disconnection from parts of, or the whole of the body, disconnection from others, mental, emotional and physical illnesses and we may have no memory of the actual event. The first steps of healing come through gentle reconnection to our bodies. In this workshop we will use movement and mantra to explore healing trauma within ourselves.
Louisa Darling will introduce us to the basic movements of belly dance & how we can use dance & movement as a way to connect, release trauma & heal. These are ancient movements that our body will have a cellular memory of. Our ancestors are likely to have danced together in this way with the same intentions.
Anna (Amrit Jiwan Kaur) will lead us in sacred mantras to cleanse the subconscious, clear blocks and bring healing. Kirtan works on a vibrational basis using Sanskrit mantras which have their roots in the Vedas and Upanishads. These mantras have specific energetic frequencies that affect the psyche and all the cells in the body, bringing a sense of oneness; a deep connection within; at home within our heart; at home within ourselves. Om Namah Shivaya!
About Louisa Darling
Louisa Darling first heard the word “kundalini” in a belly dancing class 20 years ago. After learning this beautiful dance and travelling to Egypt & Morocco to learn more about the art form, Louisa began to teach and perform internationally. Eventually, belly dance led into another passion – yoga. It was initially meant to support the dancing physically but the yoga practise soon took over & the spiritual elements became more relevant. After a break from professional dancing, she has picked back up the hip scarf and is now dancing for pure joy, ritual & connection.
Louisa is a mum of 5 and a qualified kundalini teacher based in Leicestershire where she teaches weekly in the New Walk Museum with Egyptian mummies & dinosaurs. Louisa organises the Barefoot Festival.

About Amrit Jiwan Kaur
Anna Strange (Amrit Jiwan Kaur discovered the power of mantra during a blissful 62 minutes of White Tantric Yoga in 2013 and since then she has been exploring mantra and vibration through voice, instruments, and gongs. She began leading chanting and gong workshops, creating spaces for people to merge in meditation with the sounds and discover deep peace and silence within. In 2019 Anna trained with the extraordinarily talented Nikki Slade, the pioneer of Western-style Kirtan in the UK, developing and deepening her ability to hold the space and use the voice, the harmonium and the drum to create a powerful heart opening experience for all.
